“We can do it in any country we want. We can do it here too.”

“It” means toppling a government. And this statement, made at an official dinner, comes from the U.S. Ambassador in Athens, Kimberly Guilfoyle (who is also a former Fox News host and Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-fiancée).

The good thing about the Trump administration is that there’s no pretense: at least you know what you’re dealing with. You can even boast about meddling in EU member states, and it comes amid so many outrages (abandoning Ukraine because we need diesel, to take the latest example) that it doesn’t even make the headlines anymore.

You get used to anything when you live in a dystopia.

And to top one disgrace with another: this same Kimberly Guilfoyle is also well versed in influence peddling, as when she asked a Trump donor and supporter to pay a $100,000 credit card bill just before her confirmation hearing, promising him access to administration officials in return.

The tone is set at the top, and the fish rots from the head.
